Project: Autonomous Mining System
For this project we are looking for two Postdoctoral Researchers to assist in a project on developing an autonomous mining system. This project will develop novel methods in reinforcement learning for controlling the mining agent as well as robust 3D mapping solutions for operation in challenging subterranean environments. The final project deliverables will be implemented on-site, at the project partner's facilities. Some travel to mining sites will be required. We are looking for two candidates with expertise in one of the following areas:
Reinforcement Learning for control.
Point cloud-based 3D mapping.

Both positions are for 1.5 years (18 months)
Starting date will be September 2026.
Desired Postdoc profile:
Having a PhD, or in final stages of PhD, in Engineering or Computer Science
Proven track record of advanced research in one of the above indicated area of expertise through publications in top venues such as, but not limited to, T-RO, RSS, ICRA, IROS, CVPR, RA-L etc.
Hands-on experience with: C++, Python, ROS(2), Linux, Git.
Good communication and presentation skills. Previous experience mentoring junior researchers is advantageous.
How to apply:
If interested, please email with subject: "Autonomous Mining Postdoc". Please attach a CV and clearly indicate if you are interested in the RL or Mapping position. Also, provide a link or PDF of a recent publication, or manuscript draft, which highlights your research expertise.
